REGGIO EMILIA: OUR INSPIRED APPROACH
17 March 2017
Reddford House Schools, a member of Inspired, pride themselves on applying the unique Reggio Emilia educational approach to their Early Learning Schools education.
A teaching philosophy first developed in post-war Italy, focuses on recognising and celebrating each individual pre-school child’s innate abilities and gifts. Children are regarded as competent and capable in their own right and the philosophy respects childhood as a time to explore, create and be joyful.
Catering for infants to five years old, the Reggio Emilia Inspired approach form a solid foundation; children receive an outstanding start to their education and many students exceed expectations for their age. As a result children have a strong academic framework to move confidently on to junior years.
The layout of the physical space of a Reddford House Early Learning School has been designed to encourage choices, problem solving and exploration. Teachers are skilled observers who determine individual needs and build on existing gifts and talents. The approach is balanced and giving, without undue academic pressure. The methodology encourages a feeling of belonging and instils innate confidence in children. Their learning environment is made to feel safe, welcoming and authentic.
